Ian's Links to Computer Stuff

Linux Info

I run linux on machines from a AMD K6-300 with 64Mb ram ('hitch' my workstation) to a 386SX16 with 8Mb ram ('shorty' the router) as well as a 486DX2/66 with 32 Mb ram (hazchem, the household server!).
Actually there's toxic, big and ctext as well but they're basically routers, testbeds for hardware, netbooting and other time wasting activities.

NetBSD

I run NetBSD on two HP9000/300s (happy & grumpy)
happy is a 9000/380 with 32M RAM and ~ 1G of SCSI hard disk space. grumpy is a 9000/345? with 16M RAM and a number of sloooow HP-IB hard disks. grumpy and happy are used as a boot servers for the Sun 3s.

  • NetBSD Web site .au mirror.
  • NetBSD HP300 mailing list archive.
  • Daemon News Net/Free/Open BSD News.

Other freely distributable OSes

I don't run any of these (yet!)

Real (Non-PC) Hardware - HP 9000/300 & Sun 3

I have a 3/50 and a 3/140. Probably the most complementry thing I can say about the 3/140 is that it makes a great room-heater, it's even shaped like a convection heater!

  • Sun 3 archive
  • Sun OS 4.1.1 installation binaries.

Hardware Suppliers

These are basically the suppliers of various bits I've scrounged and had to find documentation for!

Internet Resources

  • Deja-News Usenet search engine.(I'd recommend turning off auto-load of images on this one)
  • Alta-Vista Search engine.
